JUNIOR BOOKEEPING SPECIALIST - SUBCONTRACTOR

Do you enjoy consistent, predictable work? Are you looking to expand foundational bookkeeping  practice or maybe take a step back to just enjoy the back-end data entry?


We’re looking for a Junior Bookkeeping Specialist to support our client service team by maintaining accurate, timely, and reliable financial records. In this role, you’ll work closely with internal team members and communicate with clients primarily through our client portal (Double). While we have a white glove approach to our services and are very relational with our clients to guide them as they grow, this position is primarily back-end support. Most of this work will include classifying bank feeds, reconciliation, entering sales, and batching questions to support preparation to close the books for the lead bookkeeper. This will also be heavy on process documentation as we are growing and will need to update and maintain standardized processes.


This is a great opportunity for someone early in their bookkeeping career who is detail-oriented, reliable, and eager to grow or someone who is seasoned, but looking for something predictable and not client-facing.

What You’ll Do

  • Perform bookkeeping tasks following standard operating procedures
  • Process and categorize transactions accurately
  • Assist with monthly bookkeeping and reconciliations
  • Maintain organized and up-to-date client records, notes, and documentation
  • Track and complete tasks within deadlines
  • Communicate clearly and promptly with team members and clients
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes and efficiency
  • Escalate questions or issues when needed

Required Skills & Experience

  • 1+ year of bookkeeping experience (or equivalent training)
  • Experience with QuickBooks Online (QBO)
  • Proficiency in Excel or Google Sheets
  • Strong attention to detail and organization
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills
  • Customer service mindset
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and data security

Required Qualifications

  • QuickBooks Online Certification
  • Experience with Excel (basic formulas, data organization)
  • Customer service experience

Preferred (Nice to Have)

  • Quickbooks Advanced
  • Double (client communication platform)
  • Asana
  • Google Workspace (Gmail, Drive, Calendar)
  • Zoom or Google Meet
  • Spreadsheet formulas and basic reporting
  • Workflow automation/integrations

Work Style & Expectations

  • Start at 10+ hours per week, with potential to grow quickly to full-time
  • Strong emphasis on communication, reliability, and follow-through
  • $20-$30/hour DOE
  • Remote, part-time US-based contractor position with opportunity for growth and/or W2
  • Flex schedule (preferably during regular business hours)
  • Ability or willingness to learn to maintain work/life balance
